Fantasy RP Prince of the Seas, King of my Heart (Brit?)

Averynn looked out amongst the shoreline from her balcony, watching the glimmering waters, waiting for something it seemed. She was on the lookout for merpeople. She knew her father had told her they didn’t exist, but she didn’t believe him. He had also warned her to not to stray too close to the sea for its waves could hypnotize her and potentially cause her to drown. Now if that didn’t sound like a siren to her, she didn’t know what would.

Something shimmery caught her eye and she quickly picked her way down from her balcony to the edge of deep waters, where massive rocks laid. She looked into what seemed to be an entrance to an underwater cave, but she came up with…nothing.

She huffed and crossed her arms in defeat. Her ears then caught the sounds of someone clearing their throat, and she glanced around to find the source.

Ugh, it was her bodyguard Zorren, probably no doubt there to deter her away from the shores, and she was blissfully unaware he was apart of the so called merpeople she sought. The merpeople had been hunted to near extinction so of course they would try to find clever ways to disguise themselves, Avery’s mother was one of them, and she had no clue, but her bodyguard did and knew how the king had reacted and hunted their kind for sport, and it would be probably best if he didn’t know his daughter was half mermaid.

Zorren sighed as she turned away from him "Princess, please. You need to be careful around here. You know how your father worries for you." He took her arm and began to lead her back up to the castle.

She wanted to protest, but let Zorren guide her back. “I understand my father well, but he cannot keep me cooped up for long!” She gave an exasperated sigh, unaware that it was probably for her own good. If she dared went into the sea, her mermaid side would be known. For it was only salt water to do so.

Zorren glanced back at the ocean "Perhaps we can take a trip inland, hmm? The market at Leain is normally well stocked at this time of year."

Avery felt the cool breeze on her skin, and she gave a soft grunt of dissatisfaction from his words. “I suppose we can,” she complied but really wish to go back to the sea for some reason. She was drawn there, it was in her nature to do so and the older she became the harder it would be to regain her from finding out.

He heard her groaning and bit his lip, but shrugged as they returned to the castle "Now, You should really ready yourself for dinner."

She went to her room and shut the door, locking it as to not be disturbed. She changed into a pretty dress, but she glanced at the sea once more from her window, making a silent thought on returning there again tonight. Little did she know she would discover Zorren but she would have to wait till dinner was over.

After the dinner ended, and she could sneak back out, she'd find someone at the waters edge, looking down and into the sea. It was Zorren, his green eyes sparkling, the moons reflection beautifully shimmering.

She silenced gasped as she discovered him, hiding from a distance to see what he was doing. Was he going for a swim?

 

[RedCoat]

He wasn't. He merely stared at the water for a while, before giving a long, loud sigh "Some day, perhaps... But not today."

Avery was confused, moving out and calling for his name, “Zorren…what are you..?” She began to ask, approaching him.

 

[RedCoat]

Zorren gasped, starting a bit and turning "Princess I... What are you doing out here? You know your fathers rules!"

 

[crazier_than_most]

“I could ask you the same thing,” she said and crossed her arms. “Why…why did you come out here?”

 

[RedCoat]

"I... Like how the moon shines on the water." He explained, even as he sat on a rock "Just that. Nothing more."

 

[crazier_than_most]

She narrowed her eyes, not exactly believing him but decided to let it go. She came over and sat by him, glancing into the water. “Do you know how to swim?” She asked him next.

 

[RedCoat]

"I don't." He cut her off "It's part of the reason I rarely come down here."

 

[crazier_than_most]

She shivered lightly from his sudden cut off but she nodded, “I never learned either,” she mentioned, not really believing his words but decided not to press.

 

[RedCoat]

"Mmm." He looked at the water, shaking his head "We should get back. Before the tide comes in."

 

[crazier_than_most]

She looked up to the sky, but knew he was right. “Do you ever feel…drawn to the sea?” She asked Zorren next, Avery turned, not really wanting to go back to her room.

 

[RedCoat]

"No. I can't say I do." He replied, the lie easy and practised "And we really must be getting back." He took her arm and lead her to the castle.

 

[crazier_than_most]

She gave a soft sigh, but let him lead her back. “Zorren I have to ask next, is there…anyone you’ll be taking to the masquerade coming up?” She blushed ever so faintly.

 

[RedCoat]

"I... Hadn't thought about it." He replied, catching her faint blush but not mentioning it "I've been more concerned with your safety. Do you have anyone you'd like to take?"

 

[crazier_than_most]

She shakes her head as they eventually reached her room. “You know I’m like a fish out of water when it comes to dancing,” she joked about herself, looking into his eyes. Was he always this handsome?

 

[RedCoat]

He nodded to her joke "Mmm. That's true." He laughed softly, even as he added 'If only you knew' in his mind "Just let me know if you think of anyone."

 

[crazier_than_most]

“If I don’t would…would you go with me?” She asked, seemingly wanting him to stay just a bit more, unaware of how he had affected her under the moonlight, his siren like qualities would already enhance what she had been feeling for him.

 

[RedCoat]

He looked at her before nodding slowly "If you truly cannot find another, I shall." He promised, but he knew there were plenty of suitors who would want her hand.

 

[crazier_than_most]

“Okay…will I see you there tomorrow night then?” She asked, opening her door, glancing at him again.

 

[RedCoat]

"I will be there, Princess. Someone has to keep you safe, after all." He teased softly, before leaving the room.

 

[crazier_than_most]

And as the next night came, she was there, in a beautiful sea foam green gown, one that would probably match her mermaid scales…if she ever had any, but she wouldn’t think of that, but a certain body guard would.

He saw her and bit his tongue, his first thought 'How on earth is she in that form' before he realised it was merely a dress, but his second was 'She is beautiful...' He was dressed in a navy blue set, its form tight to his own as he walked across, knowing she had 'failed' to find a partner and it was now upon him to dance with her.
